Parilio

Kolimpithres, Paros

Parīlio is a quietly sophisticated all-suite retreat on the edge of Naoussa where sculptural Cycladic design, deeply private spaces and a slower rhythm of island life give Paros one of its most distinctive luxury stays. Set across a series of low-slung sandstone-toned buildings, the hotel unfolds around a broad central courtyard where the oversized pool, shaded terraces and open-air lounge spaces anchor almost every part of the property. Thick rendered walls, curved edges, monolithic forms and hand-finished textures draw heavily from the Cycladic landscape, though interpreted with a far more contemporary restraint than the whitewashed island aesthetic seen elsewhere across Paros. The layout feels deliberate and enclosed, with shaded walkways, planted courtyards and softly lit transitional spaces replacing the more exposed, outward-facing style common on the island. Rather than relying on dramatic sea views or large resort theatrics, Parīlio builds its atmosphere through proportion, stillness and privacy, creating a hotel that feels composed from the moment you arrive and entirely connected to the slower character of this side of Paros. para-2 The 33 suites continue the same warm minimalism, combining built-in furnishings, pale natural materials and muted earthy tones with layouts that place equal emphasis on indoor and outdoor living. Large terraces extend directly from the suites, many with oversized daybeds and lounge areas that feel genuinely usable throughout the day rather than simply decorative additions to the rooms. Higher categories such as the Halo Suite, Aurora Suite and Eclipse Suite introduce more generous living space and greater seclusion, while the Jupiter Villa and Aurelia Villa shift the stay towards something more residential altogether. Several suites include separate lounge areas, dining space and kitchen facilities, though the overall feel remains consistent throughout — calm, uncluttered and carefully balanced without losing warmth or comfort. para-3 Dining centres around Mr. E, the hotel’s signature restaurant led by Michelin-starred chef Thanos Feskos, where contemporary Greek and Mediterranean cooking draws heavily on seasonal produce and local ingredients from across the Cyclades. Tables spread out around the courtyard beneath soft evening lighting, giving dinner service a relaxed elegance that suits the slower pace of the hotel perfectly. Parōn brings a lighter, more informal atmosphere during the day, moving between long lunches, cocktails and smaller sharing plates in a setting that feels effortlessly social without ever becoming busy or overstated. The pool bar remains active throughout the afternoon with fresh juices, wine, cocktails and lighter dishes, though everything still revolves around the central courtyard, reinforcing the sense that the hotel functions as one connected space rather than a collection of separate venues. para-4 Life at Parīlio revolves around the courtyard pool, where oversized loungers, shaded corners and broad terraces create a setting that feels intentionally unhurried from morning through to late afternoon. The atmosphere stays remarkably calm even in high season, helped by the all-suite layout and the way the property naturally disperses guests across its outdoor spaces. Yoga sessions, wellness treatments, guided island experiences, cooking classes and bicycle excursions can all be arranged through the hotel, though the emphasis remains firmly on slowing down rather than filling the day with activity. Kolymbithres Beach and the coastline around Naoussa are only a short drive away, allowing guests to move easily between the quieter rhythm of the hotel and the livelier energy of the harbour, beaches and waterfront tavernas. para-5 The Elios Spa continues the hotel’s restrained aesthetic with softly lit treatment rooms, natural textures and a wellness programme focused on restorative therapies and holistic treatments. Sauna facilities, massage treatments, beauty rituals and tailored wellness experiences sit alongside yoga sessions and personal training, while the fitness studio maintains the same understated, residential feel found throughout the rest of the property. para-6 Parīlio sits just outside Naoussa on the north-west coast of Paros, around 1.6 km from Kolymbithres Beach and approximately 2.7 km from the harbour, restaurants and nightlife of Naoussa town. Paros National Airport is around 18 km away, placing the hotel within easy reach of the island’s main arrival point while still feeling distinctly removed from the busier summer centres.

Phaea Blue

Elounda, Crete

Facing the island of Spinalonga from the Elounda coastline, Phāea Blue is an intimate member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World shaped by contemporary Cretan culture, private pool suites and a deep connection to the landscape and traditions of the island. Phāea Blue has been welcoming guests to this corner of Crete for more than two decades, but its latest chapter feels particularly personal. The hotel has been reimagined on a more intimate scale, drawing together local craftsmanship, contemporary Greek art and an aesthetic rooted in the colours and materials of the surrounding landscape. It feels unmistakably Cretan, not through obvious motifs, but through texture, art, food and the people behind the experience. Buildings step through gardens towards the water, allowing the rugged hills and brilliant blue of the Mirabello Gulf to remain part of almost every view. Natural stone, timber, woven pieces and individually chosen artworks bring warmth to the interiors, while the scale gives Phāea Blue the character of a private Mediterranean enclave rather than a sprawling coastal resort. para-2 Rooms, bungalows, suites and the Phāea Blue Villa are individually styled with natural materials, eclectic Greek pieces and colours borrowed from the Cretan landscape. The Signature Room introduces the hotel's aesthetic particularly well, while Deluxe Bungalows and Suites provide more generous spaces and beautiful sea views. Private heated pools feature prominently through the collection, including the Junior Suite, Blue Maisonette Suite and Island Suite. At the top sits the Phāea Blue Villa, conceived for a more private experience of the hotel and its exceptional coastal setting. Throughout, outdoor living is treated as an essential part of the accommodation, with terraces and pools drawing the sea and landscape directly into the stay. para-3 Food is central to Phāea Blue's identity. Anthós takes a contemporary approach to Greek cooking, using the produce and culinary traditions of Crete as its starting point, while Blue Door occupies an old fisherman's stone house beside the water and celebrates the island's simpler pleasures through seafood and familiar taverna dishes. The Phāea Farmers Feast takes that relationship with the island further. Guests can become part of the process, gathering ingredients and learning about the produce before sitting down to a meal shaped by Cretan traditions. Private dinners beneath the stars and other food experiences add further possibilities, but the thread remains the same throughout: Crete is not simply the backdrop to dinner here, it is the reason for it. para-4 The private beach and outdoor pool provide two natural centres for days beside the water, while the wider programme reaches much further into Crete. Sailing at sunset, snorkelling, diving, hiking and cycling can all be arranged, alongside cooking classes, cultural encounters and experiences built around the people and traditions of the island. Families are equally well considered, with a kids' club, outdoor play spaces and babysitting available, while the breadth of activities makes it easy to shape very different days around the same stay. One might be spent almost entirely beside the sea, another exploring inland Crete, and the next crossing the water towards Spinalonga. para-5 Wellness draws on the same sense of place, with massages, facials and body therapies complemented by yoga, fitness classes and personal training. A dedicated spa and fitness centre provide the foundations, while treatments and rituals bring in natural influences that sit comfortably with the hotel's broader Cretan philosophy. para-6 Phāea Blue lies on the Elounda coast in north eastern Crete, with the Mirabello Gulf stretching out in front and historic Spinalonga across the water. Elounda and the surrounding villages bring another dimension to the stay, but there is enough depth within Phāea Blue itself to make staying close to the sea for several uninterrupted days extremely tempting.

Unda

Roda, Corfu

On the beachfront at Roda on Corfu's northern coast, Unda is a contemporary island retreat where bohemian interiors, private and swim up pools, ambitious dining and a dedicated wellness sanctuary are shaped around life beside the Ionian Sea. Water is central to the identity of Unda, right down to its name, taken from the Latin word for wave. The architecture and landscaping draw the resort towards the coast, with pools, gardens and open terraces creating a succession of outdoor spaces before the property finally meets the beach. Natural textures and a relaxed bohemian influence soften the contemporary design, giving the hotel a character that feels particularly at home in Corfu. The result is a resort built for long days outdoors. Furnished terraces extend the rooms into the landscape, pools weave through parts of the accommodation and the beach provides an entirely different place to settle in for the afternoon. As evening approaches, the Ionian setting becomes especially beautiful, with Corfu's westward light bringing a warmer atmosphere to the bars and terraces. para-2 Rooms and suites move from elegant doubles to substantial private pool accommodation, with sea, pool and garden outlooks bringing variety across the collection. Interiors combine contemporary simplicity with bohemian and ethnic influences, using tactile materials and warm natural details to create spaces that feel relaxed rather than overly formal. Swim up Junior Suites open directly onto the water, while other categories introduce private whirlpools and terraces with sea views. The Signature Suite with Private Pool offers the greatest sense of seclusion, although the broad choice of private pool, swim up and whirlpool accommodation means outdoor living is a significant part of the experience throughout the resort. para-3 Unda takes its food seriously, with three restaurants giving the resort a surprisingly broad culinary identity. Phýō is rooted in Mediterranean flavours, sustainability and wellbeing, with a plant forward menu built around organic and locally sourced ingredients. Pietra moves into more refined territory under award winning chef Miltos Armenis, interpreting the clarity of Mediterranean cooking through a contemporary lens. Nami brings something completely different with its Nikkei menu, marrying Japanese and Peruvian influences in the resort's newest dining experience. Aionáō, Térrō and Rhéō provide three distinct places for drinks, from cocktails with horizon views to easy poolside refreshments throughout the day. para-4 The beachfront setting gives days at Unda an uncomplicated rhythm. Guests can move between the Ionian Sea, swimming pools and their own private or swim up pool, with landscaped gardens and outdoor lounging areas providing quieter spaces in between. The beach is right in front of the resort, making swimming and time beside the water part of everyday life rather than an excursion. Roda and northern Corfu provide plenty of possibilities beyond the hotel, while the resort itself is equally suited to days spent entirely by the coast. Yoga and fitness add structure when wanted, with the open air spaces allowing both to remain connected to the landscape. para-5 The Coastal Wellness Sanctuary takes its inspiration from the movement of the Ionian Sea, bringing together spa rituals and therapeutic treatments with a broader emphasis on restoration and wellbeing. Treatments are complemented by yoga and fitness, creating a wellness programme that feels closely tied to Unda's wider philosophy of water, movement and time outdoors. para-6 Unda sits directly on the coast at Roda, placing guests beside the sea while providing an excellent base for discovering northern Corfu. Traditional villages, beaches and the island's beautiful northern landscapes are within easy reach, while returning to the resort brings the focus straight back to the water and the slower rhythm of the Ionian coast.
